A Step-By-Step Approach To Software Submission

Continuing on from my last post I think you can start to see the potential with software submission. A good little interactive eBook, combined with targeted keywords in the software title can go a long way. Just by building a little portfolio of these mini EXE eBooks will bring you 100s, if not 1000s of targeted traffic a month!

So here's a little tutorial I've prepared for you to help you get started..

Part 1 - Branding Your Interactive EXE eBook.

I'll save you a lot of time here by giving you something that I've already done. You won't have to worry about content, graphics, how to open pages in an iframe through a menu system etc etc..
So let's get started..

1. Download and extract the uncompiled project here.
2. Download and install Easy Ebook Creator (HTML to EXE compiler) here.

3. Edit the index.html file in code view with DreamWeaver or similar.
4. Scroll down near the bottom and locate the line similar to below;

a href="http://YourClickBankID.teachmehow.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=exeebook" target="_blank"

5. Replace YourClickBankID with your ClickBank username.

What this will do is rebrand the link to my TeachMeHow site with your affiliate link so you'll earn back end commission.

Now we're going to turn that opt in form at the bottom left of the eBook into your opt-in form..

6. First locate the opt-in form code which is located just above the previous ClickBank code;

7a. Now create a new Autoresponder list with your list server with an opt in form. When you've set up your new list, you can replace 98im4beginners with yours.

or..

7b. If you want to use your javscript code you can remove the old opt-in code altogether and replace it with yours.

8. Save and exit.

You can test your eBook in it's HTML format by running the index.html in your browser. Your affiliate ID should be present when you hover the mouse pointer over the large hyperlink and if you sign up to your own list, you should see a new opt-in in your autoresponder login.

Part 2 - Compiling Your EXE eBook.

Good so far?.. Let's continue..

1. Open up Easy Ebook Creator.
2. Open up all the menus by clicking on the '>>' buttons in the top right and you should see the following;

3. Load the directory which you want to compile.
4. Select the start file for compiling (index.html).
5. Choose a directory and specifiy a file name for your compiled .exe eBook including the speech marks;
eg. "C:\Windows\Desktop\eBook.exe"
6. Enter the title of your eBook in the 'Viewer Window Caption' text form.
7. Select 'full screen' for default viewer size.
8. Enable all the navigational buttons if not already done so.
9. Then click 'Compile HTML files'.

The program will confirm that you've sucessfully created a new file. You can test your exe eBook now to see if it compiled correctly. If you've made it this far congratulations!

Now it's time to submit the little bugger :)

Part 3 - Submitting Your Software.

Although you could submit your little eBook to literally 1000s of software directories, you can still submit to one site called Upload.com (the Download.com network) and receive a substancial amount of traffic without fail. This is the one we're going to upload manually to..

1. Go to Upload.com and register an account with them if you haven't already done so.

2. Fill in the form and submit your exe eBook. This should take about 10-15 minutes if you're doing it first time round. If you want to speed up the 'filling in' process you can create a PAD file, but I'll cover that in another post.

3. That's it! Simply wait for their approval and when it becomes live, watch how much traffic you receive just from that one submission and you'll be able to see at face value how many subscriptions you're geting just form that one EXE file.

Thanks for reading!
Aaron.

P.S. In case I've missed out some step or if you're having trouble getting through this let me know which part and step you're on in the comments section and I'll do my best to talk you through the process!

P.P.S. I should have mentioned as well to add a statcounter tracking code in the index.html so you can track the amount of views your exe eBook is receiving!

You mention adding a stats counter to the ebook. How is this done exactly?
