"Outside The Box" Techniques..

Hi and welcome back!

I realise it's been a while since I last did any blogging but what can I say? Life just seems to get in the way ;) - moving house, DIY work, new cat.. Nevertheless I'll continue as normal and make sure I do a good job providing you with informative content and report any results here.

What do you think to the new blog layout? I thought I'd go for a more simpler and fresher (less official) web 2.0 look.. hope you like it!

Anyway, in this post I thought I'd better blog about a traffic generation technique that I've only recently started applying and whether or not it has made a permanent impact to date and if it's something worth while doing in the future - software submission.

I'm sure you've heard of article submission and directory submission but not many seem to talk about software submission as a valid way of generating traffic.

So does software submission work? In short - YES. How much traffic? A few 100 clicks a month depending on the 'software' you submit. Is it worth doing?.. YES - because it's free, highly targeted and there's lots of room for competiton!

So how does one approach software submission?

You may think that you have to create a piece of complicated software but you'd be way off. You can compile HTML pages into an .exe file with a free HTML compiler and the software directories are more than happy to accept them and list it on their website for others to download.

Here's one I did earlier;

You can download it here;
http://www.digital-downloads-247.com/files/PCBooster.exe

As you can see, it's not really a piece of software - just webpages constructed into iframes and formatted into an .exe file.

For tracking I add a statcounter code to the eBook so I can tell straight off the bat how many downloads it's receiving.

To submit this little piece of software to multiple directories automatically I use a software called RoboSoft which submits your piece of software to over 1100 directories in literally hours.

There are 2 monetization techniques on this piece of software - an Email capture form and a link off to a ClickBank affiliate product - a registry cleaner in this case. Simply turn your content into an .exe eBook and link off to a related affiliate product. The software directories will provide the traffic for you and you make backend commission.

Don't think that you're limited to just 'computer-related' niches because I've even submitted random niche eBooks like 'PSP Hacks', 'Drawing', 'Tattoos' and 'Six-Pack Abs' and they are all receiving download traffic - even ones I submitted nearly a year ago!

Conclusion? If you're not submitting 'software' you're missing out on a lot of traffic and potentially a lot of sales. I would definitely recommed this technique for generating and building your list!

You can see a screenshot of the monthly traffic I'm receiving below..

Regards,
Aaron.

Good practical advice Aaron.

I heard about this some time ago but never got round to applying it. Now you have given me an idea of how it works in practise I will be making my own 'software' submissions for various niches.

Wow Aaron, this sound like something that is really workable. Would this work by snagging articles from article directories and making a ebook out of them? Would a body need to get permission from the authors to use their articles if proper credit is included, to do something like this?

Thanks for the great idea and any response.

Yes you could grab some articles from the article directories and compile them into an eBook as long as you have the author bio kept intact.

I personally would just use all that PLR lying around on your hard drive and put it to good use :)

Aaron.
